Yesterday, when asked if she had ever had a Red Bull, Hillary Clinton replied, No. What is it?
Normally, I wouldn’t even bring something like this up. But after sharply attacking Obama for being an elitist, it’s really hilarious to me that she doesn’t know about a drink as ubiquitous as Red Bull. Of course, it’s no surprise that Hillary is an elitist too, just like Obama. But you have to give credit to Obama for at least having some street cred. Not only does he lay down a voiceover on a Q-Tip song (and get chastised for it in a priceless op-ed piece), but he plays some mean basketball at his own 3v3 tournament. Hillary really doesn’t get much street respect in my book, but taking that whiskey shot earned her points.
Ultimately, though, it is ridiculous that elitism is even a political issue. That people choose candidates that they could have a beer with is crazy. We are picking a president! No matter who you support, everyone can agree that we should choose the smartest and most diplomatic candidate that we possibly can to run our country. I think Jon Stewart puts it well: Doesn’t elite mean good? … I know elite is a bad word in politics … [but] if you don’t actually think you’re better than us, then what the *** are you doing?!
