Former Atlanta legislator Jim Martin beat favored CEO, Vernon Jones, and will face off against incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.

Jones, as part of his campaign strategy, used doctored campaign fliers that showed he and Barack Obama standing side by side. Obama was less than enthused about the arrangement and the photos. Additionally, it may have cost him some white Democrat support as it showed the two black men together.

As for the Republican incumbent, Senator Chambliss holds advantages that is needed in a state-wide race. He is well ahead in money and organization but with the Obama factor in Georgia, along with the fact that Martin is white, may prove not to be a slam dunk among conservative white voters. This race could be tighter than expected but the edge still goes to the GOP.
